Ventisqueros, BioMar and Corbion held an event to officially present the coho salmon Silverside®, a premium salmon marketed in the United States.

Silverside® is raised by Ventisqueros, a Chilean salmon farm, with AlgaPrime ™ DHA (Corbion) as the main source of omega-3s. The diet is provided by BioMar that has incorporated this oil in the formulation of its diets after years of R&D to deliver more sustainable solutions to salmon farming.

This is one of the strategies promoted by BioMar at a global and local level focused on reducing the proportion of marine fish used in salmon and trout feed. "We know that feed is a fundamental issue in the salmon production and that’s why we work collaboratively with customers and suppliers of raw materials on a global scale and also in Chile. In recent years, we have made progress that focuses on the final consumer and, from that perspective, we have developed sustainable solutions for the entire chain," explained BioMar CEO, Carlos Díaz.

Silverside® is marketed mainly in the United States through Blue Glacier and was promoted at the Seafood Expo North America in Boston by the North American chef, Sammy Monsour. It is currently marketed in fresh and frozen portions, in supermarkets, food services, restaurants and retail stores in the northern country.
