Zeigler Bros. Inc., Celebrates 75 Years in Business
As we enter a new decade, Zeigler Bros., Inc. is taking a moment to reflect on its 75 years as a family owned and operated business. From humble beginnings in a water powered grist mill along the Conewago stream in rural Pennsylvania, the company has grown and evolved into a research and development driven company with clients in more than 50 countries.
Much has changed since Ty and Leroy Zeigler founded the original mill outside Gettysburg, PA in 1935. Today the company is a global leader in the development and production of specialized feeds for the aquaculture, animal research, and zoo industries. While Zeigler still works closely with local suppliers, the company’s business partnerships span the globe.
A strong dedication to value, customer service and integrity has been a core part of Zeigler’s business philosophy from the start. This tradition has been passed along to Leroy’s son, Dr. Tom Zeigler and his sons Matt and Tim who now represent the third generation of family management.
As an established resource for resolving unique nutritional challenges, the company has been fortunate to collaborate with countless companies, universities, research institutions and government agencies. Through the years, Zeigler has used innovative nutrition to respond to a wide range of distinctive needs. Having produced custom diets for everything from manatees to abalone and crickets, the company knowledge and capabilities are as diverse as the species it feeds.
Zeigler continues to serve an especially important role in the aquaculture industry where it has played a pioneering role in the advancement of the modern industry. From helping the global shrimp farming business get off the ground to creating the first water stable form of Vitamin C, Zeigler has a long list of accomplishments that have only been possible thanks to the skill and dedication of its staff, the company’s collaborative customers and quality suppliers and vendors which have served Zeigler for so many years.
As Zeigler presses forward towards new challenges, it will continue to look to the past 75 years to help it navigate the opportunities and pitfalls ahead. With a renewed sense of purpose, Zeigler looks forward to addressing modern nutritional challenges while building new relationships and strengthening old ones.
