AFIA to host National Dialog on Ingredient Import Safety

On November 28 and 29, 2007 AFIA will host a workshop-type meeting at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare. The National Dialog on Ingredient Import Safety is open to the entire feed industry.

AFIA has organized the dialog in response to recent concerns about imports from China. Attendees will have the chance to give their input on the draft Guidance for Industry to be presented to FDA which outlines safety guidelines when purchasing ingredients.

The meeting is designed to:

  • Allow participants to hear FDA’s perspective on the recommendations of the President’s Interagency Working Group on Import Safety
  • Offer importers a chance to discuss imported ingredients
  • Review draft guidance and participate in breakout sessions
  • Form a consensus on import ingredient safety
  • Create recommendations for FDA on imports
