Thailand’s Shrimp Health Resources Improvement project (SHRImp), managed by the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) in collaboration with IDH, the Sustainable Trade Initiative, has partnered with XpertSea to deploy a collaborative farm solution to help manage production risks at multiple shrimp farms in Thailand.

The SDG Accelerator is a United Nations Development Program (UNDP) program aiming to accelerate business solutions with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program is funded by the Danish Industry Foundation and is being tested tested in Denmark in 2018 and 2019 with 30 Danish small and medium-sized industrial companies. Aller Aqua was one of the 2018 participants of the program.

The Sustainable Shrimp Partnership (SSP) has joined the IBM Food Trust ecosystem, which will help provide traceability of SSP shrimp from farm to fork. BioMar has completed the testing of insect meal in feeds for aquaculture and believe it shows promise as an alternative protein source. This is one among many novel ingredients, such as algae oil or single cell proteins, that BioMar has been investigating.

The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Fish has issued a request for applications to support research for development in Feed the Future target and aligned countries in west Africa, east Africa, and Asia.

BioMar has appointed David Whyte as the Managing Director of their new fish feed manufacturing plant in Tasmania. The plant, currently in its construction phase will be ready for commissioning in early 2020.
